CurseForge Listings and Downloads Seen From a US 4G Line
CurseForge hosts mods, modpacks, resource packs and add-ons for a long list of games, with a website, a desktop app and a developer side. A project author or a modpack team wants to know that a US player on a phone finds the right page, reads the right description and is offered a sensible download. 4G Proxies USA rents a real US carrier line for a day at four dollars, so you can look through the eyes of that player without owning a US phone plan. Unlimited data for normal use, free IP changes, one SIM used by you alone.
Where the US view differs
The site's front page, trending lists and ad slots are shaped for the visitor's market, and ads in particular are sold by country. The mobile layout changes how the file list, the changelog and the dependencies box are shown. Download pages can lead through a short wait or a prompt to open the app, and the behavior on a phone differs from the desktop flow. A hosting address does not see any of that the way a phone does, since the site has no reason to treat a server as a player.
The same applies to the pages your players reach from outside the site: a link in a game launcher, a Discord post, a search result. Each lands on your project with different referrer and device information, and the download page may offer a different path depending on how the visitor arrived. Loading those entry points through the line on a phone tells you what a US player actually gets from each.
Author checks that take an hour
Load your project page on a narrow viewport through the line: description, images, file list, the dependency box and the relations tab. Click through to a file and note what the download page does for a US mobile visitor: the wait, the app prompt, the link. Open the search and confirm your project appears for the terms you expect. If you maintain a modpack, read its page the way a new player would and check that the installation notes are visible before the download button.
Modpack teams should also read the changelog of the latest file through the line, since the formatting that looks fine in the editor can lose headings or code blocks on a phone-sized page. The dependency box deserves a second look too: a dependency marked optional on desktop should still read as optional when the box is collapsed on mobile.
The app and the launcher side
The desktop app follows the system proxy for most of its traffic. Set the proxy at the system level on a test machine, sign in to your own account, and see how the app behaves on a mobile-grade connection: sign-in, project search, a small install. Our 4G lines usually run 20 to 45 Mbps depending on signal, which is a fair picture of a US player on a hotspot. Stop short of installing a large pack; bulk transfer is outside fair use.
Ads next to your project
If you advertise on the platform or want to know what shows beside your work, browse as a signed-out US visitor, note the creatives, rotate the address from the dashboard, and look again. Two or three rotations in a day give a reasonable sample of what US visitors are served.
Rules and price
Your own account, no download bots, no inflating download counts, no scraping beyond what the site allows. Four dollars for the 4G day pass, five for 5G, two dollars for two hours on the hourly plan, with those hours counting toward the day if you stay. Choose any of Phoenix, Houston, Chicago, Miami, Boston, New York, Los Angeles or North Carolina on AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon.
Setting up a CurseForge proxy on 4G Proxies USA
- Order a day pass in the dashboard or the Telegram bot; pick city and carrier.
- Set the proxy in a fresh browser profile and, if testing the app, at system level on a test machine.
- Confirm the public address, then open your project pages on a narrow viewport.
- Walk the download flow for one small file and a short app install.
- Sample the ads, rotate, sample again, and write up anything that looks wrong.
CurseForge proxy questions
Does the download count change when I test?
A download is a download. Keep test downloads to a handful on your own projects; do not use the line to inflate counts.
Can I use SOCKS5 for the app?
The app follows the system proxy. A tool that wraps the process in SOCKS5 also works. Test with a short session first.
Is one day enough?
For author checks, yes. Teams that check every release may prefer the week at $25 on 4G.
